"I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free."
Psalm 119:32
Suppose there were no traffic laws. Going out for a drive would be a dangerous endeavor. Drivers would have to fight their way down the road. Traffic would be a snarled mess. Following rules can sound like the opposite of freedom. But without rules, community turns into chaos. Following God's commands protects us from harm and helps us love God and others well. It frees us to travel the road of life unencumbered by fear, uncertainty, or insecurity.
Dear Lord, help me to follow Your commands, even when they don't make sense to me. I know that they do to You. In Your Name, Amen.
